The National Resilience Institute (NRI) will welcome internationally renowned speaker, author and researcher Lisa Cherry, MA, ED to lead a Resilience First Aid training event on Thursday, February 14 at the Mount Mercy CRST International Graduate Center in Cedar Rapids.
Cherry is known for her work in equipping community helpers and crisis responders to work in the area of human resilience. Teaching from lived experience and nearly three decades of working within social care and education, Lisa will share real life stories and lessons learned from various settings.
NRI President and CEO Mollie Marti, PhD, JD says, “Lisa doesn’t just talk about trauma and creating a thriving life, she speaks from personal experience and decades of authentic leadership. I am thrilled to be able to welcome her to our community so that she may share her wisdom and tools with those in our community working to help individuals overcome their circumstances with strength and joy.”
The training will provide an overview of how trauma impacts human development and will facilitate personal resilience development, including self-awareness and vulnerability practices, as strategies to strengthen collaborative community resilience building.
Presented by NRI, the training is part of a Resilience First Aid project funded by a mental health grant from Linn County. Individuals wishing to register may do so at NationalResilienceInstitute.org. Tickets for the event are free for Linn County residents and $25 for non-residents.
